Challenges
Valle Flôr Consulting (VFC), Ecovisão Cabo Verde and Proactivetur intervene in the sector of sustainable tourism and nature on the Santiago Island, Cape Verde, as part of the project “Marking of the Footpaths Network on the Santiago Island, Cape Verde”, funded by the Cape Verde Ministry of Tourism and Transport through the Social Sustainability Fund for Tourism. The VFC, in collaboration with the project’s development partners, is responsible for implementing the activities.
Solutions
Running from December 2021 to October 2022, this project includes the marking of trails and footpaths from the Santiago Island (Santiago Trails – Nha Tradison), with a main route that crosses the entire island and 27 complementary routes.
Results
Cartographic, digital, photographic and physical signposting mapping of a main route that crosses the whole island from north to south and complementary routes with ramifications in all the municipalities, integrating the identification of the historical, ethnographic and natural heritage, the existing communities and the services on offer, as well as their dissemination through a set of virtual communities specialised in trekking, mountain biking and trail running.
